Charles M. Hoogstad

April 25, 1951 — September 20, 2021

Charles M. Hoogstad, 70, of Conneaut Lake, died at home Monday, September 20, 2021 surrounded by his family.

He was born April 25, 1951 in Meadville a son of Charles and Shirley Hays Hoogstad.  He married Laura Cannon September 20, 1975 and she survives.

He was a 1971 graduate of Conneaut Lake High School and worked for almost 30 years as a long haul trucker.  He then worked for 20 years delivering the Meadville Tribune.

He was a member of Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus Council 6037.  He was also a member of Linesville VFW Auxiliary, Conneaut Lake Station #3 and Hartstown Pumphouse #45.  He was an avid NASCAR and football fan and enjoyed taking care of his yard.  However, his greatest love was his family and two granddaughters.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Laura, of 46 years, include: a son, C. Joe Hoogstad (Kristi) of Saegertown; two granddaughters, Lilly and Laila Hoogstad; three brothers, Ritchie Hoogstad of Linesville, David Hoogstad (Peggy) of Linesville and Gene Hoogstad (Danica) of Sandy Lake; a sister, Mary Smith (Ron) of Cleveland, OH; a sister-in-law, Roberta Loadman (Ron) of Pleasant Hills, PA and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hours will be Friday, October 1, 2021 from 4-8 p.m. at the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake, PA with a Rosary service led by the Knights of Columbus at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady Queen of the Americas Church, 155 S. Ninth Street, Conneaut Lake with Fr. David Carter, Celebrant.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Autism Society Northwest Pennsylvania (for Kingston Crew), P.O. Box 3923 Erie, PA 16508 or to Laura Hoogstad, c/o Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, Inc., 12422 Conneaut Lake Road, Conneaut Lake, PA 16316.
