Charles Milton Phillips

March 7, 1860 — June 22, 1945

Charles Milton Phillips, 85, of Meadville, died at Spencer Hospital Friday morning after being critically ill the past two weeks.

Mr. Phillips was born in the house where he resided all his life, and had for many years conducted an establishment for the cleaning of rugs, mattresses, tents and awnings.  He began his business with his father, Frank Phillips, after being employed for an extended period by the John J. Shryock Co.

Mr. Phillips was a member of Stone Methodist Church.  In his youth, he played with the famed NW Band, and later with the 15th Regiment Band of the PA National Guard.

The deceased, who had been in failing health for a long time, is survived by his widow, the former Edith Ash; a daughter, Mrs. S. H. French and two sons, Roy L. Phillips and William W. Phillips, all of Meadville; a sister, Mrs. Ada Dunn of Erie; six grandchildren and three-great-grandchildren.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
