Charles R. (Charlie) Moore

July 1, 1939 — August 7, 2004

Charles R. (Charlie) Moore, 65, of 11098 Moyer Rd., P.O. Box 435, Meadville, died Saturday, August 7, 2004 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born July 1, 1939 in Indiana, PA, a son of Grace L. Moore Davis.  He married Diane M. Hoff Dederick July 10, 1990.

He worked as a grinder in the tool room at Talon for 32 years.  He subsequently worked as a tool and die maker at Leach Tool for 8 years, retiring in 2001.  He was a social member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 and West Mead #2 Volunteer Fire Department.  He was a life member of the Meadville Elks Lodge #219 and the Meadville Club, and was a member of the Meadville Eagles Club Aerie #429.  He enjoyed photography, gardening, woodworking, riding his motorcycle, and his dogs and cats, especially his cat “Baby”.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 14 years, include his mother, Grace M. Davis of Meadville; 2 daughters, Pamela Reefer and her husband Tracy of Gotha, FL and Sharon Weller and her husband Jonathon of Moon Township; a son, Charles R. Moore, Jr. of Charlotte, NC; 2 step-daughters, Diana Brocklehurst and her husband Jeff of Meadville and Renee Blystone and her husband Duane of Cambridge Springs; 2 step-sons, Michael Dederick of Meadville and Derek Dederick and his wife Linda of Meadville; 6 grandchildren, Tiffany, Christian, Lauren, and Tyler Reefer, all of Gotha, FL and Madison and Taylor Weller of Moon Township; 13 step-grandchildren; and 2 step-great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his step-father, William P. Davis.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville with an Elks Lodge service at 7:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. David Fugate, Pastor of Congregational Care of First Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
