Charles W. Younginger

Charles W. Younginger, 85, formerly of Meadville and a resident of Raleigh, NC died Tuesday, October 12, 2010 at Rex Hospital, Raleigh, NC following a period of declining health.

He was born in Pittsburgh, PA October 22, 1924 a son of Charles and Lillian Donelly Younginger.  He married Geraldine Frey August 27, 1947 and she survives.

He worked as a welder for J & L Steel in Pittsburgh for several years and then worked for American Viscose Corp. and Westinghouse in Meadville.  He was a 1942 graduate of Brentwood High School in Pittsburgh and was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army.  He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also worked as a taxidermist.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Geraldine of 63 years, include: two daughters, Susan L. McNany and her husband Jeffrey of Raleigh, NC and Cheryl L. Holzer and her husband David of Marengo, OH; two sisters, Jean Spierling of Grove City, CA and Carol Alcorn and her husband Paul of Blufton, SC; a brother, Don Younginger of Pittsburgh; two grandchildren, Dominique Holzer and Ryan Holzer and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Charles B. Younginger.

Calling hours will be Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dave Brumagin, officiating.

Interment with military honors provided by Huidekooper VFW Post #2006 will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Harmonsburg.
