Charles R. (Chuck) West

Charles R. (Chuck) West, 69, of Conneaut Lake, died Sunday, November 25, 2001 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born September 5, 1932 in Columbus, OH, a son of the late Steven Ernest and Anna Marie Stein West.  He had been married to Janice Schwab and subsequently married Carol Kort October 20, 1984.

He was a 1951 graduate of Worthington High School, Worthington, OH and had attended the Ohio State University and Bliss College, both in Columbus, OH.  He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served with the US Army 101st Airborne from 1952-1954.

He worked from 1960 to 1972 for Columbia Gas Co., Columbus, OH, the later years as sales manager.  From 1972 to 1984 he worked for Bryant Corp., division of United Technologies as a branch manager and from 1984 to 1989 for York International, retiring as sales and marketing manager of the southeast region.  He subsequently became licensed as a real estate broker and certified appraiser in Georgia.

He was of the Protestant faith.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three sons, Dirk D. West (Sallie) of Chapel Hill, NC, Michael S. West of Indianapolis, IN and Brian C. West (Susan) of Brook Park, OH; three grandsons, Jason M. West, Adam C. West and Luke West; four sister, Margaret Bailey, Martha Fair and Essie McGraw, all of Columbus, OH and Irma Miller of Scipio, UT; one brother, Tom West of Cincinnati, OH and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Becker and Al Poland and Eula Poland Hirsch by whom he raised.

Services were held with the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
