Charles William Blair

Charles William (Charlie) Blair, 83, of Meadville, passed away on Friday, May 28, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital, Erie.

He was born on March 12, 1938 in Slippery Rock, a son of the late Raymond and Nancy Curry Blair.  He married his best friend, Linda E. Krumpe on November 30, 1968, she survives.

Charlie proudly served in the United States Army from 1961-1963.  He worked at the former Warehouse and Webber Electric for over 40 years.  He and Linda worked for many years at Bobby Grossman Auctions.  Charlie was the only child of Raymond and Nancy Blair, Nancy passed away on Charlie’s 8th birthday.  At that point Charlie was sent to live at Bethesda Children’s Home.

He loved going to auctions, was a member of the West Mead Fire Department for 48 years, was a crossing guard, he and Linda were in the Civil Air Patrol for 10 years and was a captain of the Fire Police.  He was a member of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church.  Charlie’s absolute joy was his sons and all of their activities like basketball and swim meets and he truly loved his grandchildren, they were his pride and joy.

Survivors, in addition to his beloved wife, Linda of 53 years, include: two sons, Douglas A. Blair of Meadville and Todd A. Blair and his wife Michelle of Townville; three grandchildren, Mackenzie, Emma and Johnathon Blair and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by an infant grandchild and numerous cousins.

Visitation will be Saturday, June 5, 2021 from 4-5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  A Fireman’s Service will follow at 4:50 p.m. by West Mead #1 Vol. Fire Dept.  The Memorial Service will be at 5:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Mark Fischer, Pastor of Twelve Apostles Lutheran Church, officiating.  Military Honors will close the services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to West Mead 1 Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 573, Meadville, PA 16335; the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Center, 16792 Conneaut Lake Rd, Meadville, PA 16335 or to Charlie’s family c/o Robert W. Waid Funeral Home.
