Cheryl E. Scannell

Cheryl (Cheri) E. Scannell, 69, of Saegertown, passed away Friday, November 20, 2020 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born May 8, 1951 in Marienville, a daughter of Betty Walters Hurst. She married James M. Scannell June 12, 1971. Cheri was a 1969 graduate of Cranberry High School, Seneca. She worked as a nurses aide at various places including the Crawford County Care Center. She was of the Protestant faith and enjoyed her barcode club and breeding dachshunds. Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Jim, include three children, Miranda Lynn (Wayne) of Saegertown, Michael Scannell (Christina) of Meadville, and Chris Scannell of Saegertown; two grandchildren, Matthew Scannell and Alexa Lynn; two brothers, James Hurst and Kenneth Hurst (Kim), all of Saegertown; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother Betty Hurst; step-father, Howard Hurst and a sister, Darlene Grossman. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, November 25th from 10 to 11 a.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where the funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. The wearing of masks will be required. Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
