Chester Edwin Pollock, 91, passed away peacefully at home in Stoneboro, PA on December 6, 2024. He was the beloved husband of Thelma Lanyon Pollock, his high school sweetheart, of 68 years.
Chester was born on May 20,1933 in Pittsburgh PA to Chester and Viola Pollock. Chester was a loving father to Cynthia Pollock and Bonnie Pollock Denzer; and proud grandfather “Pappy” to Amy Turner (Rick), Brittany Graeves, Ryan Graeves (Alicia), and Abby Denzer. Chester was loved by his 9 great grandchildren, Isaiah, Caeden, Elias, Adelyn, Gabriel, Ava, Genevieve, James, and Leia. Chester is also survived by son-in- law Glenn Graeves (Lynne), nephews John Lanyon (Jacqueline) and Will Lanyon (Mandy), great nieces Mallory and Jocelyn, and great nephew Chase.
Chester graduated from Taylor Alderdice High School where he was a member of the top tier choir group. Chester was a veteran of the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany from 1953-1955. Chester took pride in being an employee of the United States Steel Mill, where he retired in 1985. He was of Episcopalian faith, a Mason of the Hebron Lodge #575 for over 60 years, and a member of the United States Steel Chorus.
Chester always had a zeal for life and a smile on his face, especially when surrounded by his family. He enjoyed watching Pittsburgh sports teams, traveling around the world, and boasting about his grandchildren. On a typical day, you may have seen Chester boating on the lake, mowing his lawn, whistling around the house, lounging in his pool, cracking jokes with his grandkids, and finding joy in life’s simple moments. Chester will be remembered for his wit, light-hearted presence, hard work ethic, generous nature, and unconditional love for his family.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, PA 16153. Chester is a donor to the Humanity Gifts Registry (HGR) of Pennsylvania to aid in medical research at The University of Pittsburgh. A private family memorial will be held to celebrate Chester’s life.
