Chiyo Maziarz

Chiyo Maziarz, 81, of Meadville died Friday, December 28, 2012 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

She was born August 6, 1931 in Tendo, Japan a daughter of Wahei and Yoshi Sato Matsuura.  She married Joseph E. Maziarz February 5, 1960 in Yokohama Prefecture and then at the US Consulate in Yokohama and then at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Yokohama on February 19, 1960 and he survives.

She worked in the Bakery Department of Bi-Lo Grocery Store and previously worked at the former Pizza Parlor on Park Avenue.  She also had been active in local Welcome Wagon and local card clubs.  She was a wonderful and loving wife and mother and an exceptional cook and baker.

Survivors, in addition to her husband Joseph of 52 years, include: two daughters, Marcia Maziarz and her husband Ray Ruhlman of Washington, D.C. and Rebecca Maziarz of Pittsburgh; a son, Christopher Maziarz and his wife Katy of Buffalo Grove, IL and her friend Mary S. Vogel of Pittsburgh; three brothers, Tatsuo Matsuura, Akira Matsuura and Shigeya Matsuura all of Japan; two sisters, Chie Minegishi and Noriko Sato both of Japan; two grandchildren, Claire Ruhlman and Anna Ruhlman and nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by twin sisters, Minako and Tetsuko.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Johnathan Schmolt, Pastor of St. Brigid Church and Rev. Philip Torre, Pastor of First Assembly of God Church, officiating.

Interment will be in St. Brigid Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials be made to The Wesbury Foundation, 31 N. Park Ave., or St. Brigid Church, 383 Arch St, or First Assembly of God, 719 Washington St. all of Meadville, PA 16335.
