Christine "Chris" Diane Donaldson

December 14, 1967 — November 24, 2020

Christine “Chris” Donaldson, 52 of Wolf Creek Twp, Jackson Center, went to be with her Savior on November 24, 2020 after a battle with cancer that lasted more than a decade. Chris was born in Greenville PA on December 14, 1967 with parents being Arthur D. and Judith A. (Jayne) Shelhamer. She grew up in Fredonia with two sisters and a brother and graduated from Reynolds High School in 1986 where she loved running on the track and cross-country teams. She went on to graduate from Messiah College in 1990 with a bachelors degree in Behavioral Science where she continued on those same running teams. After graduating from Messiah College, she served as a Case Manager for Mercer County Children & Youth. She married her “Dearie”, Russell Donaldson, on April 17, 1993. After having her daughter “Lizzie” in 1997, she began working as a Teacher at the YMCA in Grove City, PA where she could be with her daughter every day. She continued this until her disability would no longer allow her to continue. She truly loved teaching children and did this not only at the YMCA but also at the several churches she served over the years, most recently as a Member of Harbor of Hope Ministries in Mercer, PA. Chriss greatest loves in life were her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, her family, her church, running in her younger years, and then watching her daughter in sports, dance, and other activities. She was her daughters biggest cheerleader, but also couldnt stop herself from serving as her unauthorized coach! For just over the past 10 years, Chris endured many hardships, including a mastectomy and multiple reconstructive surgeries of both legs. Even so, she would encourage others spiritually, educationally, and physically. So, after her incredible challenges that would have brought down the best of us much sooner, it is only fitting that she leave this last post: “I would have lost heart, unless I had believed, that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!” Psalm 27:13-14. Chris is survived by her husband, Russell Donaldson, and her daughter, Elizabeth Donaldson, at home. Also surviving are: her mother, Judy Shelhamer, of Greenville, a brother, David Shelhamer, of Greenville, a sister, Nancy Downs and her husband Jeff of Butler, a sister, Janet Earle and her husband Gary of Greenville, her parents-in-law, Clifford “Buck” and Cathy Donaldson, a brother-in-law, Sean Donaldson, nephews Tyler, Alex, and Nicholas, and nieces Samantha, Kyla, and Leanne. Chris was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Shelhamer, her paternal grandparents, Willard and Gladys Shelhamer, and her maternal grandparents, Raymond and Charlotte Jayne.
