Clara Ann Glowa, 78, of Linesville and formerly of Carnegie, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 6, 1934 in Crafton, a daughter of John E. and Bertha L. Krouse Carrick. She married Paul Glowa August 11, 1960 in Canonsburg.
Clara was the owner and operator of the Pymatuning Camp Motel for 31 years. In her earlier years, she worked as a caregiver in an orphanage and in private duty nursing, both in the Crafton area.
Clara was of the Protestant faith. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks, photos and scrapbooking, and meeting and talking with her various motel guests. In spite of her many life challenges, she was a persistent and determined woman. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her special dog Mollie.
Survivors, in addition to her loving husband Paul, include three children, Paula Oppenlander and her husband Paul of Meadville and their son Phillip stationed at Fort Benning, GA; Jeffrey Glowa and his wife Susan and their daughter Sarah of Greensburg; and Malinda Glowa of Meadville; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Paul and Jason Paul Glowa.
Calling hours will be Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.
A private family graveside funeral service will be at Lakeview Cemetery, Conneaut Lake with the Rev. Gerald Walton, Pastor of First Baptist Church, Meadville, officiating.
Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
