Clare E. 'Mick' Hopkins

Clare E. “Mick” Hopkins, of Meadville passed away Friday afternoon, July 1, 2016 surrounded by his family at the Meadville Medical Center.

Clare was born in Titusville to the late Carl and Lilah Hopkins.  He married Cynthia Eason on June 13, 1959 in Titusville.

Clare was a graduate of Colestock High School in Titusville and a graduate of the University of Florida at Gainsville with a degree in Construction Engineering.  While in college he was a member of Sigma Lambda Chi, National Honor Fraternity of Construction Engineers.  Clare had been employed by C.A. Fieland of Tampa where he worked on many large jobs up and down the coast of Florida.  In 1962 Clare and his family moved to Meadville where he worked for Devore Construction.

He was a veteran of the Korean War with 112th Infantry 28th Division stationed in Germany.

Clare spent 43 years at the family cottage on Chautuaqua Lake where he enjoyed boating and many wonderful times with his friends.  His greatest passion was his meticulous yard and garden.

He was a member of the Meadville Elks Lodge 219 and the Meadville Rotary Club.  Clare was a gentleman and a man of great integrity.

He is survived by his wife Cynthia of 57 years of Meadville and a daughter, Chana E. Hopkins of Titusville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Calling hour will be Saturday, July 9th from 10-11 a.m. in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville.  The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Brian K. Jensen, Pastor, officiating.

The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Oyler for all his care and Dr. Bridger in the MMC Emergency Department for his wonderful care.
