Clarence E. (Jim) Powell, 83, of Conneaut Lake, died Friday, January 22, 2010 at UPMC Horizon, Greenville.
He was born May 10, 1926 in Timblin, PA a son of Harry and Mary Frye Powell. He married Sally J. Pierce and she preceded him in death May 23, 2004.
He retired in 1989 after 25 years with Construction Local #47. Previously, he had worked for the American Viscose Corp. for 4 years and briefly for Greenville Steel Car and the Erie-Lackawanna Railroad. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War serving in the US Navy. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #234, Coudersport Consistory, Zem Zem Shrine Temple, Erie Kismett Grotto, Meadville, Conneaut Lake American Legion, Meadville Elks Lodge #219, the Meadville Club and Huidekoper CFW Post #2006. He was an avid golfer and bowler.
Survivors, include two daughters, Jane Peterson of Linesville and Diane McGill of Conneaut Lake; three grandchildren, Jamie McGill (Stacey), Michelle Minnick (Dan) and Jeremy Peterson; three great-grandchildren, Taylor Minnick, Bailey Minnick and Kylie McGill; three step-great-grandchildren, Lindsey Hawk, Cody Hawk and Kearney Hawk and two nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Max Powell and Kenneth Powell.
Services were held with the Waid-Coleman Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
