Clark E. Smith, 57, of Renroc Drive, Meadville, passed from this life quietly Saturday, March 29, 2003 from lung cancer at the Meadville Medical Center. He was surrounded by loving family and friends. He spent the past two weeks receiving numerous phone calls, visits, cards and prayers from friends and relatives near and far which brought him much enjoyment.
He was born in Meadville February 19, 1946 in Meadville a son of the late Wilfred E. and J. Wilma Hudson Smith.
He was a graduate of Randolph-East Mead High School and was a veteran of the Vietnam War serving with the US Air Force from 1964-1968. He was employed by the Automatic Electric Co. in Chicago until August 1970 when he was disabled in a car accident.
He was a member of Wayland Baptist Church, the Meadville Club, West Mead II Vol. Fire Dept., VFW Post #2006, Taylor Hose Co., Cochranton American Legion, Vernon Central Fire Hall and was an Honorary Life Member of Meadville Elks Lodge #219 and a former Elk of the Year. He enjoyed reading, sports, Corvette cars and most of all conversing with people.
Survivors, include two sisters, Dr. Christine Kell and her husband James of Girard and Shirley Irving and her husband Tim of San Luis Obispo, CA; a brother, J. Burke Smith and his wife Judith of South River, NJ and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial reception will be Saturday April 5th from 1-3 p.m. at the East Mead Vol. Fire Dept. Social Hall, 23876 State Hwy. #27, Meadville.
Following cremation burial will be in Kiser Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorials maybe made to the American Cancer Society, 464 Pine Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
