Clayton Ray Danforth, 89, a former longtime Richmond Twp. resident, and a resident of Wesbury United Methodist Community since September 1997, died there Monday Aug. 19, 2002.
He was born in Richmond Twp. December 18, 1912, a son of Don A. & Lillian Mitchell Danforth. He married Reba Johnson in 1956, and she preceded him in death in 1994.
He was a graduate of New Richmond High School, and had been in the construction business with Harry Werling and Richard Woods. He had also been a commercial truck driver. He was associated with the New Richmond United Methodist Church. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He is survived by 2 stepdaughters, Wilma McQuiston of Mercer, and Shirley Weidner and her husband Stanley of Conneaut Lake; a sister, Dorothy Smith of Meadville, 12 step-grandchildren, and many step-great-grandchildren, also nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Betty Willey, and 1 brother, Roy Danforth.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
The funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Sarah Roncolato, Pastor, New Richmond United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in New Richmond Cemetery.
