Clifford E. “Prospector Cliff” Prussia, 56, of Birch Drive, Saegertown died Friday, July 1, 2005 at his vacation home in Cleveland, GA.
He was born in Meadville, July 3, 1948 a son of Milton Prussia and Isabell Payne Sherman.
He retired in 1990 as a Pony Express driver with Penn Dept. of Transportation after over 20 years of service.
Over the years he became an avid prospector. He started by panning for gold in the Conneautville area and in his retirement panned the Chattahoochee River near his vacation home in Cleveland, GA. He thoroughly enjoyed reading and studying about old prospecting sites and sharing his knowledge with other. He was also an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting and fishing and passing on his love of the outdoors to his children and grandchildren. He was a member of the GPAA (Gold Prospectors Assoc. of America) and the LDMA (Lost Dutchman Mining Assoc.).
Survivors include: three sons, John Prussia and his wife Julie of Buford, SC, Clifford M. Prussia of Meadville and Clinton Prussia and his wife Susan of Henderson, NV; his mother Isabell Sherman of Meadville; four sisters, Lucile Menist and her husband Nick of Meadville, Norma Hites of Myrtle Beach, SC, JoAnn Castile of Meadville and Bonnie Kuhn and her husband Kenneth of Meadville; one brother, Russell Prussia and his wife Betty of Meadville and five grandchildren, Adréanna, Brandon, Chelsea, Dakota and McKenna.
He was preceded in death by his father and a half-brother, Don Ferry.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 6-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral and committal service will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Daniel A. Kaufman, Pastor of Allida Smith Wesleyan Methodist Church, officiating.
Burial will be in East Spring Cemetery.
