Clifford L. Nageotte

Clifford L. Nageotte, 88, of 21408 Springs Road Ext., Meadville, died Wednesday, March 1, 2006 at the Crawford County Care Center.

He was born in Meadville, February 2, 1918 a son of Bert and Edna Conrad Nageotte.  He married Lela Smith August 2, 1941 and she survives.

He was the owner and operator of Clifford L. Nageotte Roofing for 37 years before retiring in 1985.

He was a 1936 graduate of Randolph High School in Guys Mills.  He was a veteran of World War II with the U.S. Army serving in North Africa, Italy and France.  He was also assigned as part of the Honor Guard at the United Nations formation ceremonies in San Francisco.

He was a West Mead Twp. Supervisor for four terms from 1954-1977 and was an active member of West Mead #1 Vol. Fire Dept.  He was a former member of Eagles Lodge #429, Elks Lodge #219 and Keystone Model A Club.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 64 years, include: five daughters, Donnell Beday of Raleigh, NC, Patricia Bergamasco and her husband Fiore of Cary, NC, Priscilla London and her husband Joe of Tavernier, FL, Gail Walters and her husband Dale of Annandale, NJ and Claudia Riggs and her husband Geoff of Mt. Juliet, TN; one son, Lyle Nageotte and his wife Diana of Hilliard, OH; nine grandchildren, Greg Nageotte, Heather Ewald, Dr. Alvie Richardson, Lovelle Overbey, Dante Bergamasco, James Teasdale, Samuel Teasdale, Sabrina Walters and Tiffany Walters, one step granddaughter, Anne Neer, eleven great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers, Arnold Nageotte and Wendall Nageotte and an infant brother and two sisters, Louise Armstrong Willis and Mildred Lynch.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral service will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Christine Rogan, Pastor of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006 will be in Greendale Cemetery.
