Clifford Stanley Sutliff, Sr., 80, of Meadville, former owner-operator of City Delivery of Meadville and also a former owner-partner in the Willow Tavern, died Wednesday, November 14, 1990, at Meadville Medical Center after an extended illness.
Mr. Sutliff was born in Harmonsburg, March 27, 1910, a son of Edgar C. and Olive Clute Sutliff. He married Vickie Letizia on August 21, 1981.
Mr. Sutliff retired in 1973 as a truck driver for Talon, Inc. after 35 years service. He also had been an owner-partner of the Willow Tavern until 1979 and was former owner-operator of City Delivery in Meadville in the 1930s.
He had been a well-known baritone vocalist in Meadville, having sung in the Male Chorus of the Meadville Club, at area churches and community functions and also had sung at the Lilly Dale Auditorium of the Mertopolitan Opera House. He was a life member of the Meadville Club, a member and former office of Teamsters Local No. 564, a member of the Bartenders Local and a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Shirley Baker of Meadville; a son, Clifford S. Sutliff, Jr. of Pittsburgh; a stepson, Clarence R. Prall of Ft. Worth, TX; several nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Velma Firch; five brothers, Elton (Al), Carl, Ralph, Milford and Herman Sutliff.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
