Clinton J. McNamara, 72, well-known Wayland dairy farmer and civic leader, died Sunday afternoon at City Hospital after a two-year period of failing health.
A long-time East Mead Township farmer, he had lived 13 years in Pittsburgh, where he was employed as an accountant by the Pittsburgh and Lake Erie Railroad.
He was interested in several welfare projects including rural electric co-op, public schools, good roads, Grange work and farmers co-ops.
He taught several years in East Mead Township schools and was township supervisor for several years. He was a member of the Methodist Church and Kiser Hill Mead Grange.
Survivors are his widow ,the former Loretta Smith; a daughter, Mrs. Conrad Miller of Blooming Valley; two sons, A. D. and Bruce J. McNamara, both of Wayland; five grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Stanley Wasson of Meadville; a brother, Howard N. of Charleston, NC and several nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Wayland Cemetery.
