Clinton Ray McLaren, 82, of 22809 Hobbs Rd., Meadville, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002 at Meadville Medical Center Transitional Care Unit following a period of declining health.
He was born April 30, 1920 in Townville, a son of the late Alexander and Laura Everett McLaren. He married Mary Lemish July 5, 1947 and she survives.
He was a graduate of Townville High School. He worked at Channellock, Inc. for 41 years, 35 years as head foreman of the polishing department. He also owned Hilltop Farm for a number of years, a Charolais Cattle operation and was a leader for the Fabulous Farmers Beef 4-H club. He was a member of the Meadville Management Assn. Following retirement, he helped his children and grandchildren build and remodel their homes. He was and avid hunter and skilled carpenter who enjoyed spending time with his family.
He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was the manager of the Calvary Baptist Christian Academy boys’ basketball team for several years.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 55 years, include 2 daughters, Marjory Osborne of Geneva, OH and Linda Mattocks and her husband Larry of Meadville; 3 sons, Raymond McLaren and his wife Missy of Abingdon, IL; Mark McLaren and his wife Linda of Meadville; and Kevin McLaren and his wife Wendy of Crimora, VA; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Alma Heckman and Evelyn Wood, both of Meadville; 1 brother, Eugene McLaren and his wife Betty of Townville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Jason McLaren; 4 sisters, Ethel McLaren, Mabel Lee, Ida Craven, and Gladys Hirt; and 1 brother, Gilbert McLaren.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville and Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 543 Randolph St., Meadville. The funeral will follow at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. David Maitland, Assistant Pastor officiating, assisted by Rev. Douglas Messerall, Senior Pastor.
Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery.
