Cody Robert Downs

Cody “Cooter” Robert Downs, 23 of Jackson Center, passed away on Saturday, April 13, 2019. Cody was born on August 31, 1995 in Fond Du Lac, WI, to David R. Downs, Jr., and Annette Sue Hunt Downs, they survive at home. He was a 2014 Graduate of Lakeview High School and went on to earn his Associates Degree in Diesel Mechanics from the University of Northwest Ohio. He worked for many years at Minor Acres and was currently employed at Flexospan in Sandy Lake. Cody loved the outdoors and farming. He would spend hours on a tractor when given the chance. He also enjoyed working on farm equipment. In his earlier years he was a member of 4-H. He was a good friend, spending most of his evening and weekends with them. He will be remembered as a dear friend, a good young man who worked hard, and was often the voice of reason. In addition to his parents, Cody is survived by his sister, Sara E. Downs of Jackson Center, paternal grandfather David Downs, Sr., and wife Diane of Ohio, maternal grandmother Carol Ann Hunt of Kentucky, paternal aunt Christine Townsend and husband Steve of Ohio, Maternal Aunts Angie Siemens and husband Mike of Kansas, Debbie Waltz and husband Larry of Indiana, Gayle Starkey and husband Rob of Mississippi, and Jeanette Burk and husband Rusty of Indiana, as well as numerous cousins and very dear friends. Cody was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Charles Hunt, and paternal grandmother Carolyn Downs. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of STONEBORO, 99 Franklin Street, where family and friends are welcome from 3-7 pm on Tuesday, April 16. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 11 am on Wednesday, April 17 with the Reverend Virginia LaVan-Gadsby, pastor of New Lebanon Community Church, Officiating.
