Constance J. Shafer

Constance J. (Connie) Shafer, 56, of 21299 Ball Rd., Venango, died Saturday, September 1, 2007 at her residence following a 2-year valiant battle with cancer. She was born in Northfield, OH June 5, 1951, a daughter of Ridley and Helen Nelson Pattin. She married John R. Shafer June 30, 1979. She was a graduate of Saegertown High School and was a homemaker and mother. She enjoyed sewing, talking on the telephone, reading, and loved her dog Otis. Survivors, in addition to her husband John of 28 years, include 3 daughters, Brenda Leone and her husband Ron of Girard; Laura Holsopple Stoll and her husband Clyde of Meadville; and Jean Webster and her husband Mike of Venango; her father and stepmother, Ridley and Margaret Pattin of Northfield, OH; 2 sisters, Patsy Shriver and her companion Cliff Schmitt of Fairview, OH and Sally DeSiena and her husband Guy of North Royalton, OH; 2 grandchildren, Alaina Webster and Preston Leone and a third, baby Webster expected; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother and a son, Johnny Shafer. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 1 to 3 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. A funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Watson Run Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 448 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.
