Miss Coralyn Lydia Grout, 79, a resident of the Methodist Home for the Aged for 18 years, died there Monday, November 23, 1970 after a long illness.
She was born in Poland Township, Chautauqua County, NY, December 1, 1890, a daughter of Martin and Minnie Emery Grout.
Miss Grout attended public schools in Chautauqua County, Falconer (NY) High School and Cleveland Bible Institute. She was an ordained elder in the former Erie Methodist Conference and served as supply pastor.
Miss Grout was pastor at Camp Street Mission, Jamestown, NY, in 1920 and 1921. Failing health forced her to give up the regular ministry.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Salamanca, NY.
She entered the former Ida M. Cribbs Methodist Home, Conneautville, and moved to the Methodist Home in Meadville when it opened in 1952.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Frederick (Dorothy) Stanely of Salamanca and Mrs. Julius (Allene) Christenson of Costa Mesa, CA.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Thayer Cemetery, Frewsburg.
