Cynthia E. Pierce

August 21, 1896 — April 14, 1995

Cynthia E. Pierce, 98, a former Blooming Valley resident, died Friday, April 14, 1995, at Crawford County Care Center after a period of declining health.

She was born August 21, 1896, a daughter of Harry and Adelaide (Davison) Roudebush.  She married William I. Pierce, September 30, 1922.  He preceded her in death, February 19, 1989.

She worked at various local businesses over the years, including Talon, Meadville Hardware, J. C. Penny Co. and the Crawford Store.

She was a member of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church and its Usher Club and was also a member of the Meadville Button Club.  She attended Edinboro State Normal School.

She also enjoyed painting and needle work and spent time writing poetry over the years.

Survivors include one son, Harry R. Pierce of Guys Mills; two daughters, Mrs. Benn (Joanna) Leavenworth of Grand Rapids, MI and Mrs. Myles (Thora) Schweitzer of Clermont, FL; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by four sisters, Ida Roudebush, Belva Kirk and Lela Waid and Laura Rockwell.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
