Cyril F. Lorz, 84, of Meadville, died Wednesday, November 22, 1978, at Hamot Medical Center, Erie, where he had been a patient for seven weeks.
Born in Meadville, February 22, 1894, he was a son of Fred and Louise Albaugh Lorz. He married Rose Marie Trick, December 29, 1926. He worked as a security guard at Talon, Inc. from 1935 to 1959, when he retired. Prior to that he worked for Phoenix Iron Works in Meadville, served as business manager, booking agent, banjo player and vocalist for a traveling orchestra from 1923 to December of 1926. From January 1927 through October 1935 he was a self-employed grocery store operator in Meadville. A veteran of World War I, he served in Company B, 112th Infantry, 28th Division, and saw duty on the Mexican border and in Europe. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion and Societedes Fismes (Last Man's Club). A member of St. Brigid's Roman Catholic Church, he also was a member of the Holy Name Society of the church and Knights of Columbus and the Catholic Federation of Meadville.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Willis (Joan R.) Patton of Oxon Hill, MD; a son, Cyril F. Lorz, Jr. of Meadville; three sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Laurie of Cambridge Springs, Mrs. Agnes Laurie of Bremerton, WA and Mrs. Hildegarde Laurie of Tonasket, WA; six brothers, Fred of Meadville, P. Theodore of Sheffield, Joseph of Willoughby Hill, OH, James of Columbus, Albert of Gainesville, FL, Norbert of Sun City, AZ and eight grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
