D. Ray Beatty, 65, of Meadville, who operated Beatty's Garage on Mead Avenue for 35 years, died Saturday, February 20, 1960, at his home on Cotton Road, Vernon Township. He had been in poor health for several years.
Beatty was born in West Mead Township November 24, 1894, a son of M. Glenn and Etta Roberts Beatty. He had retired from business several years ago because of ill health.
He was a member of Masonic Lodge 408, Northwestern Commandery, Zem Zem Shrine, Meadville Elks Lodge, Taylor Hose Co., Pennsylvania Automotive Assn., Crawford County Sportsmen's Club and the Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by his widow, the former Katherine Hughes of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a daughter, Mrs. Lee W. (Shirley) Gehrt of Meadville; a sister, Mrs. Edward (Grace) Karlskind of St. Petersburg, FL; and three grandchildren, Nancy, William and Robert Gehrt.
Service were held at the Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
