Dale E. Owens, 70, of Meadville, passed away Sunday, May 10, 2020 at his residence surround by his loving family following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born January 3, 1950 in Erie, a son of John H. and Eileen M. Lenhart Owens. He married Janet Smith June 21, 1969.
Dale was a 1967 graduate of Saegertown High School and a 1970 graduate of the Erie Business Center with an Associate’s Degree in Computer Systems and Accounting. He worked at C & J Industries for 30 years, retiring in 2008 as Vice President of Finance and served on the company board of directors.
Dale attended New Beginnings Church of God. He was a life member of Meadville Elks Lodge 219 and member of Oasis Masonic Lodge 416, Edinboro and the Kismet Grotto. He was a former board member of the Center for Family Services and Meadville Medical Center Board of Corporators, and was an active member of the Saegertown VFD in his younger years. Dale enjoyed golfing, deer hunting, bowling and fishing.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Janet, include two daughters, Trisha Maki (Robert) of Stephens City, VA and Wendy Hakel (Darren) of Harborcreek; four grandchildren, Nickolus and Justin Hakel and Madison and Ryan Maki; two sisters, Mary Ellen Rice of Candler, NC and Stacie Callaway (Joseph) of Mechanicsburg; a brother-in-law, Gregory Kiser of Meadville; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Kiser.
Calling hours will be Thursday, May 14th from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where strict CDC guidelines for social distancing will be followed.
A private funeral service will be Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. Cliff Forbes, Pastor of New Beginnings Church of God, officiating.
Interment will be in Greendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. 8th St., Erie, PA 16505 or the Yolanda G. Barco Oncology Institute, 16792 Conneaut Lake Rd., Meadville, PA 16335.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation for all of the care and support provided by the staff of the Barco Oncology Institute, Dr. Pasricha, and family physician, Dr. Oyler.
