Dale F. Stainbrook

Dale F. Stainbrook, 89, of Conneaut Lake, died Thursday, August 6, 2009 at Rolling Fields, Conneautville following a period of declining health.

He was born June 22, 1920 in Meadville, a son of the late Charles A. and Hazel F. Garrison Stainbrook.  He married Lillian Woodley September 5, 1942.

A 1938 graduate of Meadville High School, Dale attended Fenn College, Cleveland, OH (now Cleveland State University).  He was a U.S. Coast Guard Veteran, serving from 1942 to 1945.  He was employed at Talon, Inc. for 45 years, retiring in 1985 as manager of employee benefits.  He previously worked at the American Viscose.

Dale was a member of Stone United Methodist Church, was a former charter member of the Meadville Jaycees, and was an avid Cleveland Browns fan.  He was formerly very active with Meadville Area Youth Baseball.

Survivors, in addition to his wife Lillian of 66 years, include a daughter, Lois Dougherty and her husband Thomas of Hatfield; 2 sons, Douglas D. Stainbrook of Kailua-Kona, HI and Dean W. Stainbrook and his wife Linda of Carson City, NV; and 5 grandchildren, Nathan Dougherty, Lauren Gentry and Aletha, Weston, and Lili Stainbrook.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Vincent Clair Stainbrook.

Calling hours will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Waid-Coleman Funeral Home, 12422 Conneaut Lake Rd., Conneaut Lake.

The funeral and committal service will be Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Spahr, Pastor of Stone United Methodist Church officiating.

Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.

Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
