Dale F. Winans, Sr.

Dale F. Winans, Sr., 59, of 8 Dick St., Meadville, died Thursday, September 22, 2005 at his residence following a brief illness.

He was born August 7, 1946 in Meadville, a son of the late Lawrence L. and Larue Bennett Winans.  He married Linda L. Dickson March 9, 1968 and she survives.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, Army Reserves, National Guard, and Air Force Reserves.  He worked as a truck driver for Shaffer Trucking of Omaha, Neb. and previously worked as a truck driver for the former Spaulding’s of Meadville.  He was a former member of the Vernon Township Volunteer Fire Dept. and enjoyed woodworking.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 37 years, include 3 sons, Dale Winans, Jr. of Los Angeles, CA; Michael Winans of Waynesburg; and Andrew Winans and his wife Deanna of Meadville; a granddaughter, Cassidy Wendt-Winans; 2 brothers, Lawrence Winans of Ohio and Shane Winans and his wife Sandy of Meadville; a sister-in-law, Kathy Winans of Meadville; 10 nieces and nephews; and 1 great-niece.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Craig Winans.

Calling hours will be Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral and committal service will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Rodney A. Johnson, Pastor of First Church of the Nazarene officiating followed by military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.

Following cremation, burial will be in Lyona Cemetery.
