Dale Richard Foulk

June 30, 1921 — December 6, 2009

Dale Richard Foulk, 88, of Walton Hill Rd., Meadville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sunday, December 6, 2009 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born June 30, 1921 in Meadville, a son of the late Percy Berdale and Ada Mae Flaugh Foulk.  He married Ruth E. Young March 16, 1946 and she preceded him in death September 18, 2003.

Dale was a 1939 graduate of Meadville High School and was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, serving from 1942 to 1946 in the Pacific Theater of Operations.  He was employed by the U.S. Postal service, first as a mail carrier and subsequently as a window clerk.  He retired in 1986 following 40 years of service.  He previously worked at Talon and also served as a Civil Service exam proctor for many years.

Dale was a member of Pleasantview Alliance Church and its choir.  He enjoyed singing and also sang with the New Beginnings Church of God Choir and was a member of the Meadville Community Choir at Allegheny College.  He was a member of the Christian Business Men Committee, Meadville, Youth for Christ, and his Bible study group on Cox Road, Guys Mills.  He enjoyed fishing and traveling and especially loved his grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter, Carol Foulk Walton and her husband Jerry of Meadville; a son, Jerry Lee Foulk and his wife Carole of Longview, TX; a sister, Neva Miller of Saegertown; 9 grandchildren, Heidi Boot, Jeremy Foulk, Jennifer Such, Jill Johnson, Josh Walton, Joy Shaffer, Jacob Walton, Joseph Walton, and Johannah Walton; 11 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Jerry Walton, son-in-law and Pastor of First Baptist Church officiating.

Entombment will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2006, Meadville.
