Dan S. Veith, 78, of Meadville, former county parole and probation officer, died suddenly at his home, Wednesday, October 2, 1957.
He had served as the county's parole and probation officer since 1944 and retired February 1, 1957. He also was a former member of Meadville School Board and had served on City Council.
Veith previously had been a clothing merchant.
He was born at Meadville June 10, 1879, a son of Charles S. and Frances Thompson Veith. He was a graduate of Meadville High School and was a member of Park Avenue Congregational Church, Free and Accepted Masons, Lodge 408, and the local Elks Lodge and Taylor Hose Co. He was a director of Meadville Building and Loan Assn.
He was married to Flora N. Rickert on February 24, 1903.
Survivors include his widow; two daughters, Harriett, wife of Fred C. Gisewhite of Meadville and Edith Kingsley of Joliet, IL; a sister, Miss Georgia E. Veith of Meadville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
