Daniel Marlin Guthrie, Sr., 78 of Mercer, formerly of Jackson Center, passed away unexpectedly on May 10, 2020. Daniel was born in Jackson Center on December 31, 1941 to the late Daniel Walker and Fredia Louise (Coast) Guthrie. He worked at Duferco Steel for many years. Daniel enjoyed riding his motorcycle with his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed playing the lottery, eating at Golden Corral, and holiday dinners with his family. He enjoyed helping his neighbors and watching old Western Movies, his favorite being “The Ten Commandments”. He will be dearly missed by his family. Daniel is survived by his children; Daniel Guthrie Jr (Judy), Cynthia Rebel (Francis), Steven Guthrie (Nancy), Lisa Stainbrook (Steve), Shaun Guthrie (Angela), and Danielle Guthrie, 27 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren, siblings; Ronald Guthrie (Dee), Linda Cogswell (Ray), Randy Guthrie (Peggy), and Jeff Guthrie (Terry), as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his wife Karen Sue Boitnott, son Kenneth Allen, grandchildren; Steven Walker Guthrie, Jason Daniel Mathieson, great-grandchildren; Lester Paul Mathieson III, daughter in law Diane Guthrie, brothers; David & Brian Guthrie, and sister in law Joyce Diane. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Black Funeral Home of Stoneboro, due to recent health concerns, funeral services will be private.
