David L. (Mike) Alexander, Sr.

October 17, 1939 — December 9, 2013

David L. (Mike) Alexander, Sr., 74, of Meadville, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born October 17, 1939 in Meadville, a son of Francis L. and Doris L. Ryan Alexander.  He had been married to Virginia Petruso and later married Judy Smith.

Mike was formerly employed as a Pennsylvania municipal police officer and subsequently as a truck driver for Talon for many years and Peters Heat Treating from where he retired.

He was of the Protestant faith, member of Conneaut Lake Volunteer Fire Dept. Station 3, and enjoyed fishing and traveling.  A very kind and giving person, Mike was always willing to help anyone and was the best friend to his son Alan.

Survivors include a daughter, Amanda Fairfield and her companion Aaron; five sons, Alan L. Alexander and his companion Alicia of Conneaut Lake, David Alexander, Jr. and his wife Debbie of Conneaut Lake, William Alexander and his wife Sharon of Conneaut Lake, Tom Alexander and his wife Janet of Conneaut Lake, and Doug Alexander and his wife Stephanie of Guys Mills; a brother, James Alexander and his wife Patty of Meadville; a close friend, Gary Armour of Conneaut Lake; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Alexander and a sister, Audrey Hagen.

Calling hours are today (Wednesday) from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.
