David B. “D.O.M.” Waid, 67, of 727 Park Ave., Meadville, died Sunday, March 26, 2006 at Meadville Medical Center.
He was born in Meadville June 3, 1938, a son of the late Paul W. and Margaret E. Harden Waid. He married Mary Lou Dickson June 20, 1959 and she survives.
He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving from 1955 to 1959 aboard the USS Valley Forge. He worked as a carman for Conrail for 20 years and subsequently worked for Spauldings and Andover Industries. He enjoyed fishing, CB radio, flying, reading, and especially spending time with his granddaughter and canine companions.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 46 years, include 2 daughters, Suzanne Schrecengost and her husband Chris and Kathi Waid, all of Meadville; 2 sons, David W. Waid and his wife Donna and Jonathan Waid, all of Meadville; 2 sisters, Shirley C. Isenberg and her husband Kenneth of Jamestown and Emily C. Parker and her husband Stanley of Meadville; a sister-in-law, Linda Winans of Meadville; a granddaughter, Elizabeth A. Waid; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville. A funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. David Acker, Pastor of Norrisville United Methodist Church officiating.
