David C. Gregg, 78, of Meadville, died Saturday, January 16, 1999 at Wesbury United Methodist Community following a period of declining health.
He was born January 19, 1920 in Greenville, son of the late Walter and Bessie Kelly Gregg. He married Pauline Carlson December 31, 1948. She survives.
He was a US Army veteran of WWII having served under General Patton. He worked at Hodges Foundry of Greenville for 42 years, retiring in 1982 as a molder. He worked part-time in traffic and crowd control for the Erie/Crawford County PA State Police Company 54. He and his wife owned and operated Gregg's Hot Sausage Sandwich Booth at the Crawford County Fair for 29 years. He was an agent of the Society of Prevention and Cruelty to Animals with the Crawford County Humane Society. He was a life member of Greenville VFW. He was a member of the Greenville Elks Lodge #145, Crawford County Crime Stoppers, and Vernon Volunteers. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
He was a member of First Church of God.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one son, Lawrence L. Gregg (Terri) of Lakeland, FL; one brother, Walter Gregg of Grove City; five grandchildren, Mrs. Krista Petruso (Samuel), Cassie Gregg, Jeremiah Gregg, Joshua Gregg and Brittany Gregg; one great-grandson, Shawn Gregg; a daughter-in-law, Christine E. Gregg of Meadville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Edwin Gregg
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
