David Charles Ridgeway, 75, of Meadville died at home surrounded by his family, Thursday, November 27, 2014.
He was born in Meadville August 10, 1939 a son of Donald William and Ethel Elizabeth Hollabaugh Ridgeway. He married Elma L. Smock July 2, 1966 and she survives.
He worked in the Car Shop of the Erie-Lackawanna and Conrail Railroads for 25 years and then worked in the Maintenance and Security at Wesbury United Methodist Community for 8 years retiring in 2002. He enjoyed NASCAR racing and was always willing to help others.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Elma of 48 years, include: a daughter, Nancy Lippert and her husband Ron Jr. of Centerville; a son, Danny Ridgeway of Meadville; a grandson, Arron Lippert and his wife Jessica of Cambridge Springs; a granddaughter, Kristina Lippert of Centerville; three brothers, Walter Ridgeway and his wife Pat of Meadville, Edward Ridgeway and his wife B.J. of Meadville and Ardean Ridgeway and his wife Cindy of Saegertown; a sister, Margaret Henry and her husband Jim of Meadville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Don (Bud) Ridgeway, Daryl (Butch) Ridgeway and Glenn Ridgeway; a sister, Carol Moffit; three nephews and two brothers-in-law.
Calling hours will be Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.
The funeral service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Rod Beardsley, Pastor of Cambridge Springs First Baptist Church, officiating with military honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post #2006.
Interment will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.
