David F. Bicek, 89 of Mercer, passed away on January 25, 2023 at UPMC Hamot Hospital in Erie.
David was born in Sharon, PA on August 31, 1933 to the late Frank and Geraldine (Novak) Bicek. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He spent much of his career as an Owner & Operator in trucking.
David enjoyed many activities, including deer hunting for most of his life, mowing his lawn, driving his tractors, and building his gun collection. He had special interests in his Farmalls and Winchester M12. In his spare time, David enjoyed listening to the Slovenian show on Sundays, watching cars go by, and occasionally playing Baritone with his son, Doug.
Mr. Bicek was a member of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Roman Catholic Church, of Mercer.
On September 16, 1961 David married his loving wife, Angeline. The couple had been together for more than 60 years.
Those left to cherish David’s memory include his wife, Angeline Bicek; sons, Dave (Liz) Bicek, Jr., Duane (Lisa) Bicek, and Doug (Stacey) Bicek; grandchildren Amber (Dom LaRocca) Bicek, Tiffany (Dylan Rice) Bicek, Alexis (Zivko Pezulev) Bicek, and Duane F. (Kayla) Bicek; great-grandchildren, Bruno and Anna LaRocca, Duane Jr., Arizona, & Waylon Bicek, and Carter Foy; and a sister, Irene Bicek.
David was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Stoneboro & Sandy Lake.
A memorial service will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Roman Catholic Church, 100 Penn Avenue, Mercer, PA 16137, on Wednesday, February 1st, 2023, at 10:30 AM. Father Andrew Boyd will officiate. A funeral luncheon will follow the service at the church recreation hall.
