David G. Snodgrass, 74, of Meadville, died at home Wednesday, November 6, 1996 following a period of declining health.
He was born in Meadville, June 30, 1922 a son of the late John D. and Dorothy (Deitz) Snodgrass. He was raised by his grandparents, Dr. David G. and E. Pauline VanHorn Snodgrass. He married Bernice Steen October 13, 1941 and she preceded him in death April 3, 1995.
He was a graduate of Meadville public schools and had attended Carson Long Institute, New Bloomfield, PA and Fenn College, Cleveland, OH. He first worked as an insurance agent with Connecticut Mutual Life Insurance Co. and then in 1966 he founded and was president of Associated Life Underwriters, Inc. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Masonic Lodge #408, Scottish Rite Bodies of Erie, Zem Zem Shrine Temple of Erie, Crawford County Shrine Club, PA Assoc. of School Business Officials, member and past president of Taylor Hose Co., past president of Meadville Lions Club where he was the founder and chief fund raiser for the holiday lighting in downtown Meadville.
Survivors include, two daughters, Mrs. David (Carol) Cease of Meadville and Ms. Kathleen L. Marendo of Erie; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild and one nephew.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Jack D. Snodgrass.
Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.
Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
