Melvin as everyone called him was a very hard worker all his life... He made a deal with Helen Greer who owned the Stoneboro lake at the age of 12 to pick up garbage along the beach so he could swim. He continued to work at the beach for some time after that. Melvin also loved working with the Race Horses at Swartz farm. When some of his friends decided to go work in hazardous waste removal he went with them to work at Geocon and then Sevenson Environmental. After he left working on the road he went to work for Trinity industries and finally finishing out his career as a Union Flagger. Melvin also built the house that he and his wife Jodie live in today.. He was very proud of his handywork. On any given day you could spot Melvin driving into town with his two wild dogs Lucy and Linus right beside him. Melvin loved the outdoors. Hunting, fishing and planting his garden which he would tell you he planted just for the deer that hang out in the yard. He was so looking forward to spring.
