David J. Kolesar, 69, of Conneaut Lake, died Monday, August 11, 2008 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born August 9, 1939 in Rankin, a son of the late John William (Bill) and Agnes Yonovich Kolesar. He married Nancy Dunn March 7, 1992.
Dave was a US Marine Corp. Veteran, serving from 1957 to 1963. He was first employed as a truck driver and deliveryman for the Famous Candy Co., Homestead from 1962 to 1965. He worked as a waiter and bar tender from 1966 to 1983 at the University Club, Pittsburgh, bartender from 1983 to 1987 at the Club Continental, Indyalantic, FL and Ramones in Cocoa Beach, FL. He subsequently worked as bartender at the Iroquois Club, Conneaut Lake from 1987 until his retirement in 2001.
Dave formerly attended St. Michael's Greek Orthodox Church, Munhall and was a member of Our Lady Queens of the Amerias Church, Conneaut Lake. He was a life member of the Thompson Run Athletic Assn., West Mifflin and enjoyed fishing and golfing.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, Nancy of 16 years, include two sons, John (Whitey) A. Kolesar and James D. Kolesar, both of Munhall; two daughters, Janet Younkins (Dave) of Munhall and Joyce A. Kendall (Daniel) of Derry; two stepsons, Thomas Detelich (Amy) of Meadville and David Detelich (Karen) of Conneautville; a grandson, Anthony Fonzi; two step-grandchildren, Thomas and Jacqueline Detelich; three sisters, Joan Preziosi of Munhall, Myrna Vendetti of Munhall and Diane DiTano (Victor) of Homestead Park and nieces and nephews.
Services were held at Waid-Colemand Funeral Home.
Interment was in Evergreen Cemetery.
