David L. McCullough, 73 of Clarks Mills, passed away on May 18, 2024 at UPMC Horizon Greenville. David was born in Mercer on February 24, 1951, to the late Raymond Leslie and Ida Genevieve (McElrath) McCullough. He was raised in Coolspring on the family farm, learning the value of hard work and milking cows by hand. He was a 1970 graduate of Commodore Perry High School. David worked for many years as an owner and operator of his truck driving business, car garage, and auto dealership. He was most well-known for his years of owning and operating McCulloughs Ice Cream shops in Stoneboro and New Lebanon along with his wife for 29 seasons. In his spare time David still enjoyed working on cars, riding horses, fishing, and enjoying vehicles, such as his Firebird, 55 Mercury, Corvette, and his Dually Truck "Beautiful Blue". He was a loving father and husband and he and his wife always had a lively, loving home. He was of the Christian faith. He married his beloved wife, Carol (Morrison) McCullough on April 30, 1977, she survives at home. Also surviving are children: Adam McCullough, Jeremy McCullough, and Eric McCullough, Daniel Friedl, Jr, Brian Friedl, Michael Friedl, and Malinda (Aric) Abrams, grandchildren: Katrina, Serenity, Samantha, Brian Jr, Alexis, Jade, Aaron, Amelia, and Leroy, great-granddaughter: Everleigh, son-in-law: Brian Shipley, and siblings: Ruth Ann McCullough of TX, James McCullough of Greenville, and Alan McCullough of TX. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his daughter: Missy Friedl-Shipley. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose And Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Stoneboro. Visitation will be from 12 2 pm & 5 7 pm on Friday, May 24, at Mt. Hope Church, 7 Condit Rd, Sandy Lake, PA 16145. The family asks that you wear your favorite McCulloughs Ice Cream shirt or Hawaiian shirt. The funeral service will be at the Rose And Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, at 11 am on Saturday, May 25. Interment will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.
