David Lee Hetrick

July 13, 1948 — November 18, 2007

David Lee Hetrick, 59, of Frenchtown Road, Cochranton and 432 Baldwin St. Meadville, died unexpectedly, Sunday Nov. 18, 2007 at his residence.

He was born in Punxsutawney July 13, 1948, a son of Kenneth Thomas and Margaret Elizabeth Bush Hetrick.  He was married to Cynthia L. Zelasko and she survives.

David was a Vietnam War veteran with the U.S. Army having served for 2 years in Germany.

He held a variety of specialized certifications for equipment repair and worked throughout the Northwestern Tri-state area as a heavy equipment operator until he was forced into retirement by work related injuries in 1984.

The love of “Iron” stayed with him throughout his life and he was compelled to tinker with projects of all kinds despite his severe injuries.

David held a strong faith and possessed a noble spirit.

He is survived his wife, Cynthia, his sons Corey David Hetrick and Lee Thomas Hetrick, all of Meadville, his step daughters,  Kathleen McConnell and her husband Michael of Meadville and Karen Shaffer and her husband Donald of Pittsburgh, his mother, Margaret Hetrick and his brother Charles Hetrick and his wife Ginny, all of Hartstown, a brother, Larry K. Hetrick of Frenchtown, a granddaughter, 4 step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Hetrick.

There are no calling hours.

A memorial service will be Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Open Bible Tabernacle Church, 37534 State Hwy. 408, Centerville.

Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut St., Meadville is in charge of arrangements.
