David Lloyd Dick

David Lloyd Dick, 68, of Meadville, died Saturday, August 4, 2012 at home surrounded by his family following a battle with cancer.

He was born April 7, 1944 in Raymilton, PA a son of Walter Dick and Effie Willavene Miller Dick Hasson.  His step father was Joseph Hasson.  He married Lynda S. Beggs January 28, 1967 in Franklin, PA and she survives.

David attended grade school in a one room school house and graduated from Franklin High School in 1964.  He was a tool and die maker and worked for many years at Area Tool & Manufacturing of Meadville and most recently at Suburban Precision also of Meadville.

David was also co-owner with his wife of Flowers by Lynda in Meadville for 28 years, where he delivered flowers and smiles for many.  David was a long time member of and volunteer fireman with the East Mead Volunteer Fire Dept.  He served in many positions, including Assistant Chief and then Chief for seven years.  David enjoyed spending his time outdoors and in the woods with family and friends, especially his chocolate lab Wally.

Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Lynda of 45 years, include: two daughters, Cherie Karns and her husband Duane of Erie and Melissa Pagliarulo Grinnell and her husband Scott of Meadville; three grandchildren, Justin and Ethan Karns and Jonathan Grinnell; two brothers, James Dick and his wife Audrey of Utica, PA and Jerry Dick and his wife Patty of Stoneboro, PA; two sisters, Jane Dailey of Cochranton, PA and Barb Livengood and her husband Ersel of Waldorf, MD and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and step-father, he was preceded in death by a niece, Linda A. Mauk; a son-in-law, Chris Pagliarulo; a brother-in-law, David E. Beggs and his mother-in-law, Joan M. Beggs.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4:45 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.  The funeral service will follow at 5 p.m. at New Beginnings Church of God, 13226 Leslie Road, Meadville, with Pastor Temple Jarrell, officiating.

Interment will be in Lupher Cemetery, Canal Twp., Venango Co., PA
