David R. Pearson

David R. Pearson, 74, of 25082 Roudebush St., Blooming Valley Borough, Meadville, died Tuesday, April 2, 2002 at Meadville Medical Center.

He was born June 5, 1927 in Warren, a son of the late Harry W. and Clara E. Weisenfluh Pearson.  He married Barbara Joan Maier February 3, 1950 in Franklin.

He was a 1945 graduate of Oil City High School and a 1951 graduate of Grove City College receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Commerce.  He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, serving from 1945 to 1948.  He served at Subic Bay, Philippine Islands and Guam, Marianas Islands.  He retired in June 1992 as Executive Director of the Northwest PA Training Partnership Consortium, Inc., Franklin.  His previous employment included the Mercer County Consortium, Inc., L.W. Peebles Motor Sales, Pearson Lincoln Mercury Sales, Inc., State Farm Insurance, and GATX of Saegertown.  He was a registered basketball official for the PA Interscholastic Athletic Assn. and the Crawford County Chapter of registered basketball officials for 45 years.  He was a member of the Saegertown American Legion Post 205, trustee and secretary/treasurer of the Blooming Valley Cemetery Assn., former 20-year member of the Blooming Valley Borough council and past president of the Crawford County Boroughs Assn., former member and past president of the Blooming Valley Volunteer Fire Dept., former member of the Blooming Valley School Board, Saegertown Area Joint School Board, and Saegertown Area Joint School Building Committee, former member and past president of the Venango County Human Service Center Board, Franklin, and former member of the Crawford County Multi-Human Service Corp., Saegertown.

He was a member of the Blooming Valley United Methodist Church since 1952 and was also affiliated with the Gravel Run Presbyterian Church, Woodcock Borough.

Survivors, in addition to his wife of 52 years, include 3 daughters, Julia L. Pearson and Cynthia Stainbrook and her husband Bruce, all of Meadville and Jacklyn Knaus and her husband James of Franklin, MA; and 3 grandchildren, Craig Stainbrook of Erie and David and Krysti Stainbrook of Meadville.  He was preceded in death by an infant son, David Pearson; a sister, Jean Pearson; and a brother, Jack Pearson.

Calling hours will be Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, 581 Chestnut St., Meadville.

A funeral and committal service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Tracy Cox, Pastor of Blooming Valley United Methodist Church officiating.

Burial will be in Blooming Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials may be made to the Blooming Valley United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 24740 State St., Meadville, PA 16335 or the American Cancer Society, Crawford Unit, 464 Pine St., Meadville, PA 16335.
