David R. Waid, 73, of Cambridge Springs, passed away Tuesday, February 15, 2022 at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a courageous battle with COPD.
He was born February 11, 1949 in Meadville, a son of Earl Russell and Marian Helen Byham Waid. He married his high school sweet heart Debra Kightlinger March 13, 1971 and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage together.
Dave attended Randolph High School. He worked at Conrail for 15 years and subsequently at Meadville Forging Company for 12 years before his disability with COPD.
He had been a drummer since high school, playing in many bands for years, including the last band being Red Oak. He enjoyed 4-wheeling, camping, and talking on his ham radio with people around the world but most of all he enjoyed time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren who brought him great joy.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife Debbie, include a son, Dale Waid (Stacy) of Gibsonia; a daughter, Dot Waid (fiancé John) of Espyville; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Leverette, Norman, Howard, Charles, Russell, and Alex; and sister, Addie.
Per Dave’s wishes, no services are planned.
The arrangements have been entrusted to the ROBERT W. WAID FUNERAL HOME, 581 CHESTNUT ST., MEADVILLE where memories and condolences may be shared at www.waidfuneralhome.net
