David Ray Flowers

David Ray Flowers, 96, of Meadville died Monday, May 4, 2020 at Wesbury United Methodist Community.

He was born May 28, 1923 in Westmont, NJ a son of David Ray and Helen Margaret McBride Flowers.  He married Dorothy M. Wisner August 29, 1947 and she preceded him in death December 1, 2008.

He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Corps from 1943-1946 in the Pacific Theater.  He and his wife moved to Meadville to open this branch of Philadelphia Optical.  He later purchased the location and continued to operate as Philadelphia Eye Care.

He was a member of Emmanuel Community Church and was a member of the church choir.  He also enjoyed golfing.

He is survived by a son, George Flowers of Meadville; two granddaughters, Crista Rae Kinter of Erie and Carrie Sue Hartley of Beaufort, SC and two great granddaughters, Sophie and Cecilia.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.

A private family graveside service was held in Greendale Cemetery with Rev. Timothy Solomon, Pastor of Emmanuel Community Church, officiating.
