Dayton A. Lawrence

October 5, 1875 — September 6, 1965

Dayton A. Lawrence, 89, of Meadville, died early Monday afternoon, September 6, 1965, at City Hospital following a month's illness.  He retired in 1951 after having been a Meadville Telephone Co. employee for 50 years.

A son of Chauncey and Augusta Rice Lawrence, he was born at Conneautville October 5, 1875.  His wife, the former Sarah Leanna Booth, whom he married March 15, 1905, died March 28, 1926.

He was a member of Stone Methodist Church and a former usher and member of the Official Board.  Mr. Lawrence was a member of Western Masonic Lodge of Conneautville; Oriental Royal Arch Chapter of Alboin; Northwestern Commandery, Knights of Templar, of which he was the second oldest living commander; and the Independent Pioneer Telephone Assn.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Arthur (Marion) Smallenberger of Meadville; a granddaughter, Leanna Smallenberger at home; and a grandson, Larry Smallenberger of Cleveland.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Greendale Cemetery.
