Delmar C. Stallard

Delmar C. Stallard, 71, of 344 Parkview Drive, Saegertown died Friday, September 23, 2005 at the Crawford County Care Center following an extended illness.

He was born in Meadville May 6, 1934 a son of Dwight and Helen Ditch Stallard.  He married Marilyn L. Oakes in January 1955 and she survives.

He was a 1952 graduate of Randolph High School.  He was employed from 1956 to 1972 at Avtex Fibers, Weldon’s of Meadville from 1972 – 1990 and owned and operated DelMar Clothing from 1190-1993.  He served in the US Army from 1954-1956.  During his time in the service, he was a member of the Screaming Eagles and Hell on Wheels.  He served his entire tour of duty in Manheim/Heidelberg, Germany.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church.  He was a charter member of the Thunderbirds Drum and Bugle Corps.  He was a member of the Sunshine Kiwanis Club of Meadville.  He was also a member of the Saegertown American Legion.

A generous and loving husband, father and grandpa, he enjoyed bowling in the Plaza Lane’s senior league, watching all Cleveland Browns and Indian games and being with his family whenever possible.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, Marilyn of 50 years, include: one son, Jeff Stallard and his wife Tricia of Meadville; one daughter, Lynann Chang and her husband Dudley of Saegertown; three grandchildren, David Stallard and Mark and Maile Chang; two brothers, Dwight J. Stallard and his wife Lucille of Conneaut Lake and Richard L. Stallard and his wife Marilyn of Meadville; one sisters, Sandy Stevenson and her husband Ed of Meadville and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant son, Mark Stallard and three brothers, Ewing, Gordon and Emory Stallard.

Calling hours will be Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Robert W. Waid Funeral Home, Inc., 581 Chestnut Street, Meadville.

The funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville with the Rev. Brian K. Jensen, Pastor, officiating.

Burial will Military Honors provided by Huidekoper VFW Post 2006 will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Parkinson’s Partners of N/W PA, Inc., 3952 Pine Avenue, Erie, PA 16504 or The First Presbyterian Church, 890 Liberty Street, Meadville, PA 16335.
