Desse A. Kerr Hight

May 11, 1923 — December 18, 1994

Desse A. Kerr Hight, 71, of Meadville, died at home Sunday, December 18, 1994, following a brief illness.  She was born in Koppel, Beaver County, PA, May 11, 1923, a daughter of the late David E. and Ursula McDaniel Peirce.  She married Willis (Bud) Kerr, who preceded her in death September 8, 1952.

She had most recently been employed at Active Aging, Inc. and had worked for several years in sales at the former Burnison Shoe Store, Meadville; and as a beautician at the former Vanity Fair of Meadville.  She was a graduate of the Beaver Falls Beauty School.   She was also a member of the Meadville Medical Center Aux., a volunteer at Crawford County Senior Center, a member of Beta Sigma Phi service sorority, and she had been active in golfing and bowling.  She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, a former Sunday School teacher and a Church Circle member.

Survivors include two sons, James D. and John S. Kerr, both of Meadville; a sister, Mrs. Clarence (Sally) Powell of Conneaut Lake; one brother, David E. Peirce, Jr. of Meadville; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by a brother Joseph Peirce.

Services were held at Waid Funeral Home.

Interment was in Roselawn Memorial Gardens.
