Dewayne E. “Wayne” Rice, 79, of Carlton, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 16, 2024 at UPMC Northwest.
Wayne was born on May 25, 1945 in Franklin to the late Walter L. and Marguerite L. (Butters) Rice. Wayne graduated from Rocky Grove High School. After 45 years he retired from the Hodge Foundry in Greenville. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed woodworking.
Wayne married Sandra K. Keith on November 16, 1964. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2020.
He is survived by his children: Jeff and Renee Rice, of Clarks Mills, Rob Rice, of Carlton and Brian and Cynthia Rice, of Clarks Mills; his grandchildren: Jeffrey and Amber Rice, of Sandy Lake, Keith and Angelina Rice, of Pittsburgh, Jodi Shaffer, of Cochranton, Kevin and Karen Rice, of Magnolia, DE, Tiffany and Justin Holler, of Mercer, Cody Croft, of Mercer, Brandon Rice, of Front Royal, VA, Devin and Lena Rice, of Hadley and Austin Rice, of Grove City; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He is also survived by his siblings, Sandra (John) Monaco, of Franklin, Kenneth (Judy) Rice, of Seneca and David Rice, of Franklin and numerous extended family members and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Christine Croft, his brothers, Steven S. Rice, Richard L. Rice and Harold “Craig” Rice and a sister-in-law, Linda Rice.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Rose and Black Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 99 Franklin Street, Stoneboro, where family and friends are welcome on Thursday, September 19, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM.
Private interment will be in Cooperstown Cemetery.
